Third Party Drivers for use with the MTi

Please find below links and downloads to various third party drivers and plug-ins for the Xsens industrial Motion Tracking modules. In general, these third party drivers and plug-ins are written by third parties or customers and therefore the amount of support Xsens can provide is limited. For support, please refer to the indicated websites.


LabVIEW for MTi

A LabVIEW project for the latest MTi product series can be downloaded from the National Instruments Driver Network page. To make changes to the project, refer to the Low Level Communication Protocol document.

Note: This driver only supports the latest generation MTi's via a serial (VISA COM port) connection. If you are using an MTi 10-series or MTi 100-series model, you will need to setup a direct serial connection or use the CA-USB#-MTI cable. A direct USB connection is not supported.


Robotic Operating System

Robotic Operating System (ROS) is an operating system for robotic platforms. Amongst others, the MT Software Suite (2019 and later) contains a ROS driver for use with MTi's. It can be found in your MT SDK folder.

For legacy Xsens MTx/MTi/MTi-G devices, drivers are available on ROS MTi node (legacy).

Note: These drivers are developed and maintained by Xsens. Other ROS drivers for the MTi are available, but not developed or supported by Xsens.



QPS is a software design company specialised in Hydrographic and Maritime applications. QINSy is a suite of hydrographic solutions that covers the full range of activities, from data acquisition to chart production. The MTi can be chosen as an input for the orientation displays in QINSy.


Paparazzi autopilot

Paparazzi is a free and open-source hardware and software project intended to create an exceptionally powerful and versatile autopilot system by allowing and encouraging input from the community.

DEWEsoft, Slovenia is a supplier of data acquisition systems. Their Dewesoft data acquisition software also accepts input from the MTi.

IFEN SX3 GNSS software receiver

The Xsens MTi is compatible with the IFEN SX3 software receiver. GNSS software receivers, such as the only COTS available SX3 can be used during research, test and development projects.
